Q - What is the Global Positioning System?
A - The Global Positioning System (GPS) is a series of satellites in earth orbit
funded by and controlled by the US Department of Defense. It is available to
civilian users world wide as well as the military. The system was designed for
and is operated by the US military. An alternative but complementary system
called Galileo is currently being built by the European Union and the European
Space Agency and is planned to be operational in 2013.

Q - What is GPS Tracking?
A - GPS Tracking is
the term used to describe how the location of an object can be determined using
GPS. A GPS receiver is used to talk to the GPS satellites at regular intervals
and the location of the object is recorded within the GPS receiver. The GPS
receiver can also send the location to a central computer using the mobile
phone GSM/GPRS networks, satellite modem technology or radio waves, where it is
stored and can be accessed over the internet with the use of a computer or
mobile phone. Usually most GPS tracking systems can be viewed in real time and
have a map in the background to easily display the current location of the
person or object.

Q - Where can I buy TRAAKiT?
A - You can
purchase this through this website or by calling our Customer Services on 01638
508838. Visit our on-line shop.

Q - Why should I buy the TRAAKiT?
A - TRAAKiT
provides you with peace of mind knowing that your prized possession is where it
is meant to be and alerting you when it is not. TRAAKiT is also portable and
flexible. You can move your TRAAKiT easily from one prized possession to
another at any time. One TRAAKiT can therefore cover a number of prized
possessions.

Q - What is an Invisible Fence?
A - You would
usually expect your prized possession to remain within a particular boundary
and you may even build an actual fence to keep your prized possession in.
Computers cannot deal with actual boundaries but they can deal with electronic
ones. You can therefore create an electronic boundary via your computer, which
we call an Invisible Fence, and which is stored on your TRAAKiT and on our
computers. Your TRAAKiT and our computers can “see” the Invisible Fence as
an actual fence even if you cannot.

Q - How long does my TRAAKiT’s battery
last?
A - Each TRAAKiT contains a long life rechargeable battery. The battery
life depends on which operating setting you choose. The shortest period is
about a week and the longest about a month.

Q - Where is the best place to position my
TRAAKiT?
A - The most important consideration is that your TRAAKiT has as good a
view of the sky as possible in order to communicate with the GPS satellites.
This does not mean that your TRAAKiT has to be in the open. It gets a good
view even in a glove compartment or boot of a car, inside a container, inside a
laptop bag etc. The best is to test by placing your TRAAKiT where you want and
see if the location appears on your map and that you do not have a thunder
cloud against it which denotes an invalid GPS fix.

Q - Can I put my TRAAKiT inside a building?
A - Yes but it may not work well, or at all, as a location tracker. It depends
entirely on how good a view your TRAAKiT has of the GPS satellites. Try
placing your TRAAKiT where you want and see if the location appears on your
map. Your TRAAKiT will operate inside a building as a security device to
detect movement.

Q - Why do I have to be outside to start my
TRAAKiT Service?
A - You don’t but you do need to make sure that your TRAAKiT
has as good a view of the sky as possible in order to communicate with the GPS
satellites. To get your TRAAKiT Service up and running quickly, we do
recommend placing your TRAAKiT outside (inside a plastic bag if it is
raining). Once your TRAAKiT has received a satellite fix you can start setting
up your TRAAKiT Service.

Q - Why is there a Service Charge for my
TRAAKiT Service?
A - The Service Charge covers the cost of running our central
computers that store the location data, determine when to send you SMS and
email alerts, manage your TRAAKiT settings, the licence fees that we have to
pay for the software that you need to run your TRAAKiT Service and the
communication costs between your TRAAKiT and our computers and the costs of the
SMS messages that we send to you. There are no other charges from us whatsoever
whilst your TRAAKiT is being operated within the UK subject to our fair use
policy as outlined in our terms and conditions. You can pay the Service Charge
either monthly or annually in advance. There is a discount for paying
annually. Additional charges will apply if you take your TRAAKiT outside the
UK. Please call Customer Services on 01638 508838 for more details.

Q - What is the minimum Service Contract for
my TRAAKiT Service?
A - The initial contract is 12 months. There is also an
early termination charge applicable should you wish to cancel.
Q - Is my TRAAKiT waterproof?
A - No as the
battery recharge port is not sealed so water could get into your TRAAKiT. You
can protect your TRAAKiT outside simply by putting it inside a plastic bag.

Q - Will my TRAAKiT work anywhere in the
World?
A - Yes but you will need to contact us first to set up an overseas
account before you take your TRAAKiT abroad. When you receive your TRAAKiT, we
have set it up only to operate in the UK. If you require coverage outside the
UK please contact Customer Services on 01638508838

Q - Can I track people?
A - There is nothing
to stop you using your TRAAKiT to track people. However, we do not support
this or any covert tracking and any tracking of people that you do is entirely
at your own risk. There are laws which you will need to follow and if we find
that you are breaking these laws we will suspend your services and report you
to the authorities.

Q - Can I track somebody else’s vehicle or
belongings?
A - Yes BUT provided that you have their express permission. We do
not support covert tracking and any covert tracking that you do is entirely at
your own risk. There are laws which you will need to follow and if we find
that you are breaking these laws we will suspend your services and report you
to the authorities.

Q - What is the standard warranty on a
TRAAKiT?
A - 12 months.
Q - Can I travel with my TRAAKiT on an
Aeroplane?
A - No, it is illegal to use cellular devices which incorporate
GSM/GPRS technology that transmit wireless signals whilst in flight. You cannot
switch off your TRAAKiT and it does not have a flight mode setting either. You
must make sure your TRAAKiT’s battery has run out of power well before you
board an aircraft
Q - What is the accuracy level of TRAAKiT?
A - Typically, GPS locations can be calculated in normal operating conditions
within 5 metres.
Q - Can I connect it directly to my vehicle
battery?
A - Yes, we supply an in-car charger in your package which can be used
to charge your TRAAKiT from your vehicle.
Q - Can I hard wire my TRAAKiT into my
vehicle?
A - Yes if you want but you will then be losing your TRAAKiT’s
portability and flexibility. If you want to hard wire your TRAAKiT to your 12
volt DC battery, then you will need to purchase an in-car charger extension,
remove the male coupling and connect the wires to your battery. You can then
connect your TRAAKiT using the in-car charger that we supply. DO NOT CONNECT
your TRAAKiT directly to the battery. Your TRAAKiT batteries are 5 volt and
our in-car charger takes care of the voltage drop. You should get an
electrical professional to do this for you. Getting it wrong will invalidate
any warranties.

Q - How do I fasten my TRAAKiT onto my prized
possessions?
A - We supply some hook and loop fasteners with your TRAAKiT that
you can use. These fasteners are not suitable for fixing directly to animals
and we do not provide an attachment for fixing your TRAAKiT to animals. In
most cases, we expect that you can place your TRAAKiT somewhere that does not
require fixing, for example, under a seat, inside a glove compartment, inside a
bag, etc.

Q - Do I need to download any software to
make my TRAAKiT work?
A - No there are no software downloads required. We
provide you with your own personal access to our computers where the software
resides. You will need to have Internet Explorer 7.0 loaded on to your
computer for the best results.

Q - The package with my TRAAKiT arrived with
the seal broken, what do I do?
A - As detailed on the security seal please
contact Customer Services on 01638 508838

Q - Do I need a PC to set up and operate my
TRAAKiT?
A - No, but you do need access to one to set up your TRAAKiT. You
should also have access to one if you want to get the full benefit from
operating your TRAAKiT. You can have limited control using your mobile phone
only.
Q - What equipment do I need to set up and
operate my TRAAKiT?
A - A PC (or access to one) with internet access, a mobile
phone registered in the UK, and preferably Internet Explorer 7.0.
Q - Why choose TRAAKiT as the name for the
service?
A - We wanted something that describes what we provide, that could be
trade marked and is catchy. TRAAKiT just does that. We did consider Track
It, Trakkit, Tracit and Trak-It to name some but rejected all these for a
variety of reasons.
